Or so I told myself until I started writing and had a good laugh.
I'm taking a sweets baking break, gearing up for fasting season to recover from the deluge of holiday baking. I put on a few pounds more than I'd like between October and December. But my latest recipe tweaks, requiring numerous tests and lots of tasting, have resulted in my best bakes yet. Just look at cookie palooza 2018!

Back down to earth, minus a lot of sugar. Okay, this is not forever. It probably won't even last for any serious amount of time because I'm already scheming. I mean my birthday is coming up this month--brownies, black forest, or cheesecake?! And then there's a major holiday in each of the next four months, followed by back-to-back birthdays all summer long.
So maybe I'm not actually taking a break from baking sweets. What I'm really doing is dialing it back from daily to once or twice a month. At least that's the plan I've sold myself.
The "itch" to bake something is SO hard to resist!
